PUBG Patch 15.1 Notes

Below are the official patch notes for December 9 PUBG update, which brings the game to version 15.1.

  • Cards: all cards in normal matches
  • Appeared in a folded form.
  • Unfold it in a drivable vehicle or store it in inventory.
  • Folds into an object when stored in inventory.
  • Due to the lack of a speedometer, the current travel speed is not displayed.
  • Does not appear in Esports mode.
  • Maximum number of passengers: One
  • Max speed: Max speed without sprint (85% Force applied to the pedals): 50 km / h
  • Riding with 40% or more Boost (90% force applied to the pedals): 54 km / h
  • Sprint tapping driving (100% force applied to the pedals): 62 km / h
  • HP: Cannot be destroyed, including the wheels
  • Item Weight: 70
  • Fuel Consumption: None

As in real life, you can sprint on the ATV with physical exertion to mash the A (Xbox and Stadia) / Χ (Playstation) button repeatedly to ride faster. Getting boosted makes it easier to reach maximum sprint speed. Higher tapping speeds increase sprint speed.

Moreover, you can put your BMX skills to the test by jumping with the mountain bike. Holding the LB (Xbox and Stadia) / L1 (Playstation) button longer (up to half a second) will increase the jump height. The high speed and being boosted also increase the jump height.

We hipsters don’t ride on two wheels. We don’t find the need to use all the wheels because that’s just not cool! One, that’s right, one wheel is all we need. Try to find the perfect balance by holding down the “sprint” button and pressing “jump” in rhythm to find the hipster in you.

As a battle royale game where each match presents different situations, we believe that each category of weapons should be useful in certain types of encounters. Based on our data findings and community feedback, we’ve made some weapon balance changes.

  • The P90 kills the most of all Crate weapons and performs best on ranges where we want Crate AR to dominate. So we decided to increase the difficulty of recoil while providing less ammo.
    • Increased horizontal and vertical recoil
    • Increased ADS deflection during fully automatic burst
    • Care Pack ammo lowered from 250 -> 200 bullets

  • Hunting rifles in battlefields continue to have a very limited role as our data shows, to improve their usability, we are increasing the effective range.
    • Increased damage drop range to improve effective range by several yards per shotgun
    • Increased likelihood of hitting at close range
    • Increased sawing damage by 1
    • Decreased spread of sawn pellets

  • LMGs in general aren’t considered useful enough based on our data, so we’re slightly increasing their damage potential to improve the weapon’s role. For MG3, we saw very little use in our data compared to other crate weapons, so we’re making it more powerful. In addition, a while ago we nerfed the effectiveness of the M249 on console. Now we see that this nerf has had too much effect, so we’re changing its recoil to be between the current iteration and the previous iteration.
    • Reduced recoil when shooting from crouching and standing
    • Increased body damage multiplier from 1.0 to 1.05
    • Increased damage of M249 by 1
    • Reduced horizontal and vertical setback for M249
    • Increased MG3 damage by 2
    • Decreased horizontal recoil of the MG3

  • While some players find SMGs to be in a strong position due to their relatively low recoil, we still see in the data that their role in weapon balancing is very limited. To encourage more precise shooting, we are increasing the damage multiplier to the head.
    • Increased head damage multiplier from 1.8 to 2.1
    • Increased accuracy of the PP-19 Bizon weapon during ADS fully automatic firing
    • Decreased damage from the UMP45 at longer range
    • Decreased accuracy of UMP45 weapon when firing fully automatic from ADS

  • The AUG seems to be overtaken by the P90 and even the user’s ability to control the Beryl, so we’re making him slightly more powerful to improve his Crate weapon status.
    • Damage increased by 1
    • Increased damage drop range to improve effective range

Based on our data over the years, we find that PUBG’s magazines have not been very balanced. Extended QuickDraw magazine offers an obvious upgrade from Extended and QuickDraw magazines. QuickDraw magazine is often overlooked, with gamers not even bothering to pick it up despite their advantage over no charger.

We’ve tweaked our magazine attachments to add tactical decision making and to improve the usefulness of QuickDraw Magazine and Extended Magazine. Now every magazine attachment will be useful and offer its own unique playstyle.

If you want up to 60% faster reloads, grab a QuickDraw Magazine. If you want to have the highest magazine capacity, take an extended magazine. If you want to have a bit of both, grab an extended QuickDraw magazine.

Example when applied to M416:

  • Default magazine: 30 bullets
  • QuickDraw magazine: 30 bullets and 60% faster reloading
  • Extended magazine: 42 bullets
  • Extended QuickDraw magazine: 40 bullets and 15% faster reloading

  • We have added the QuickDraw Magazine accessory to the Skorpion.

  • As one of the hottest drop zones in Sanhok, Bootcamp should be able to deliver dynamic gaming experiences. But we’ve heard that our players don’t like the reworked Bootcamp as the structure feels too crowded and complex for desirable tactical games. Therefore, we decided to put Bootcamp through another big change and the best way to go was to move the whole structure. Here are some of the main changes:
    • To reduce Bootcamp’s complexity and sense of clustering, the central tower has been repositioned from the center to the right. We then considered different angles and distances and adjusted the layout of the other buildings around the central area to provide open space for better shooting.
    • The players seemed to have too much advantage behind the parapets on the third floor of the central tower, so we got rid of them and placed stone boxes on the rooftops instead.
      • We’ve also reduced the space between the second and third floors to reduce player advantage on the third floor.
    • We found that the large windows on the second floor of the central tower allowed a wide view of the players’ surroundings, resulting in frequent camping. Thus, we have reduced the size of the windows.
    • Training areas have also been added and scattered around the center to provide more cover and loot points.
    • We have moved the watchtowers to place one north and south to prevent players from accumulating them.
    • Players didn’t seem to have the best opportunities when they landed a bit late on Bootcamp. Therefore, we have removed the 4 warehouses within Bootcamp and added 3 to the north (outside of Bootcamp) so that even players who start late can have a better chance of arming and hiding.

  • Players felt vulnerable around the riparian areas so more rocks and trees were added.
  • Time
    • Sanhok’s lighting and weather effects seemed to interfere with our players’ view in the game, so we:
      • 25% brightness increase for clouds and sunset.
      • Decreased darkness from 66% → 33% when it becomes foggy / rainy on an overcast day.

  • PUBG’s new collaboration is with KAKAO FRIENDS!
    • More information about this collaboration will be updated in a separate announcement the day the Live server is updated.
    • Dinoland has transformed into KAKAO FRIENDS LAND.
      • KAKAO FRIENDS statues have been positioned here and there in KAKAO FRIENDS LAND.
    • Notice boards for KAKAO FRIENDS have been added.
    • The buildings were decorated with KAKAO FRIENDS ornaments.

  • The Christmas theme has been applied to Dinoland, Castle and Winery.
  • Christmas time has been added.
    • Players can use this weather setting in custom matches for Vikendi.
